Introducing Noni Jervis, Clinical Psychology Registrar

Noni-JervisI am very excited to have been given this opportunity to join Life and Mind Psychology.

I am registered as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and am a member of the Australian Psychological Society.

I completed a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Psychology at the University of Sydney and then went on complete my honours degree in Psychology. I have also completed a Masters in Clinical Psychology at the University of Western Sydney and am currently a Clinical Psychology Registrar.

I work mainly within a Cognitive Behavioural framework (CBT) as CBT has a strong evidence base and can be tailored to individual needs. I primarily work with adults (including older adults), with difficulties such as anxiety, depression (including post-partum), and stress. I also work with people who are struggling to adjust to major life events, those seeking parenting support and couples who are experiencing relationship difficulties.

I am passionate about providing evidence-based treatment so that clients receive a quality and effective service.  I believe that psychological treatment not only assists people during difficult periods of time, it also opens up more choices and opportunities in life and assists people to live more consistently with their values and goals.

I have previously worked within a range of settings from private clinics to public mental health settings. This has given me experience working with a range of people with many different concerns. I have also been fortunate to have worked with a mental health initiative for children where I was involved in the development of an initiative to support families as their child starts school.

In addition to Life and Mind Psychology I am also working within an acute public hospital setting where I assist clients by providing assessment and referrals to appropriate supports and services within the hospital and the local area. I often work with clients during crisis and assist families and other health professional to support them during this time.

Life and Mind Psychology aims to assist clients to overcome difficulties and work towards their goals, and I look forward to being part of this.
