I am a registered psychologist who works with children, adolescents, adults and families with a wide range of needs. I take a person-centred approach to therapy, meaning that I work collaboratively with you in determining the best pathway towards overcoming challenges and psychological difficulties.
While each course of therapy differs based on personal needs, I incorporate treatment elements from a variety of approaches that are based on a firm foundation of evidence (such as cognitive-behavioural therapy, interpersonal therapy, acceptance and mindfulness-based therapy, narrative therapy and emotion-focussed therapy). In the first session, we may discuss these briefly to determine which approach best fits your needs. All work is conducted in the context of an empathic and non-judgemental atmosphere.
In my work with children and young people, I take an ecological and holistic approach. This means that I work closely with family members and where necessary, the school and other organisations to achieve the best outcomes. I have considerable experience with psychometric testing (including cognitive/intellectual assessment and assessment of learning difficulties) as well as dual qualifications in education. This means I can help build a detailed picture of your child’s needs and work productively with his or her school to develop strategies for meeting them in the short and long-term.
I can help with the following difficulties:
– ASD and social communication problems
– Assertiveness training
– Behavioural difficulties/Challenging behaviours
– Depression and mood difficulties
– Goal Setting
– Grief and loss
– Family difficulties
– Peer relationship difficulties
– Psychometric assessment for young people (cognitive/intelligence tests, learning difficulties)
– Self-Esteem and confidence
– Social skills
– Stress management
– Workplace difficulties
